Try Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome. It is a syndrome in which extra tarsal bones are found. See this abstract:

1. Stop typing in All-Caps. It’s considerd shouting and rude.
2. Are you positive that it’s asbestos and not calcium silicate (they look alomst identical, and without lab tests, it’s hard for the untrained eye to tell the difference.
3. Is it encapsulated? (See the otehr poster’s response.)
4. Your landlord is supposed to inform you if there’s asbestos present. If he didn’t consult a lawyer.
5. Don’t get your panties in a knot. Unless the asbestos is turning to dust and is airborn (i.e., so you can inhale it) you’re not in any danger.

There is asbestos in buildings all over the US and the world. Doesn’t mean that you are in any immediate danger at all. Doesn’t meant that your landlord has done anything wrong.

Asbestos can be dangerous when it is being removed and particles are in the air. If the asbestos is exposed or needs replacing, speak to your landlord about how to make the repairs safely.
